"Holding forth the Word of Life: that I may rejoice in the day of Christ,
that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain"
“Have you considered your future in these days of uncertainty and doubt?”
Hello, and allow me to introduce myself to you and your family. My name is Pastor Dave Shew from Forest Hill Community Church. For 95 years, God has allowed this church to exist faithfully to serve the Forest Hill Community.
Uncertainty and doubt prevail every day of our lives. The storms come, and what we try to take refuge in often crumbles around us. Yet God has provided a place for the weary and exhausted peoples of life. It is called the church – His Church.
In God’s gracious mercy, He has allowed His church the privilege of giving His loving care through the act of comforting others in life’s storms. I personally have found His church a true place of shelter in times of trouble.
David, the psalmist, knew what it was to take refuge in a loving Lord and Shepherd, and he expressed it through one of the most beloved psalms of all times, the twenty-third psalm;
“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down I green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
The Lord became David’s Shepherd. A shepherd gives care, leads, feeds, protects and gives shelter to that which is entrusted to him. The “sheep” are in need of nothing, for the Shepherd has provided all they need. There is no greater place of safety and security than in the arms of the Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ The Lord.
In these days of uncertainty it is good to know that there is a place to come, a place to take shelter and rest from life’s storms. My earnest prayer and hope is that you may all know the love of God in Christ Jesus in your hearts, and that you are made aware that there is a place where you can worship and be a part of what He is doing through His Church.
If you do not have a church home, we graciously invite you to become part of this local assembly and join us to learn about what God has in store through His Word for our daily lives and beyond.
Please consider what your future will be as we all live and work in this uncertain world today. May God bless and keep you in His loving care.
